Ahead of the nomination and appointment of ministers by President Bola Tinubu, an energy expert and founder of Asteven Energy Institute, Dr Sunny Akpoyibo had urged the new cabinet members to prioritise the training of youths in renewable energy to boost the nation’s economy.

The President, Asteven Group, Council on Renewable Energy in Nigeria (CREN) and Founder, Asteven Renewable Energy Institute, Dr Sunny Akpoyibo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on practical solar energy training for at least 500 youths across all the local governments in the country in the next four years.

In the early hours of this week our technical team through REA Project deploy ASTEVEN installers and engineers to Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, The team will distribute and install solar home system in the following villages: Okoluwo Village, Elepa Town, Ajelanwa Village, Igbore Village, Ijepe Village and Oluwafere Village.
In many remote areas in Nigeria, most villages are not connected to the electricity grid and use either kerosene lamps or torches with one-way batteries to have at least some light in the evening. This is about to change with the Asteven solar home systems distributed via Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Projects.
The Rural Electrification Agency Nigeria (REA) through its Agency signed a contractual understanding with Asteven International Company Limited to deploy 650,000 units of solar home system to All 6 Geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
Asteven Group of companies has launched its first phase of Solar Home System production and assemblage plant in Nigeria. The company through a subsidiary Asteven international Company Limited in May 2020 started local production and assemblage of the solar generator, all in one solar street light and other small solar products in Nigeria.
